The AN/TWQ-1 Avenger is an American self-propelled surface-to-air missile system built on the FAT-V chassis and it is designed to provide mobile air defense against aircraft.[1]

Overview[]

It has only one purpose: to keep any enemy aircraft from flying overhead. Relatively cheap and armed with a battery of Stinger missiles, it's the perfect Surface-to-Air escort for ground forces.

Though fast, this unit is very lightly armored and therefore extremely vulnerable alone, so you must hide or protect it with an armored escort.

The Avenger Air Defense System, designated AN/TWQ-1 under the Joint Electronics Type Designation System, is a missile system which provides mobile, short-range air defense protection for ground units against cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, low-flying fixed-wing aircraft, and helicopters. 2 variants of the Avenger are built around the Humvee Chassis: the M998 HMMWV Avenger and the M1097 HMMWV Heavy Avenger.

The Avenger was originally developed for the United States military and is currently used by the Army. Until recently, the system was also used by the Marine Corps.
