Terminator: The Fall of Skynet is a defunct total conversion mod for Act of War: High Treason.

IntroductionEdit

For many years I have waited for an RTS that will was flexible enough to properly mod to fit the future machine world.

I first got the idea from KKnD, where in one mission you had troops and had to sneak about a ruined city while you were hunted down by vehicles.

But KKnD was not moddable enough and neither were any RTS created until Command and Conquer: Generals - where buildings were enterable and troops could play a wider role - but, once again the engine was just not cut out for the kind of large scale modification that would do it justice.

Then came along Act of War, some of the maps are entirely set in cities, with every square inch of the map covered in buildings that you can enter or damage, or get up unto the roof of, or move from one building to another etc. For the first time an army composed entirely of troops could not only hold but could easily defeat armies of heavily armoured units. Coupled with this the ability to 'scavenge' parts from destroyed enemy units, and units with stealth capability a mod can be created that will do it justice, which is what I plan to do!

HeadquartersEdit

Description:

  • The HQ will be a collection of sandbags, bunkers and oil drums (most of the actually building will be underground). There will be a road along the side and a large shed with double doors for units- most likely use a modified consortium building for this.

Abilities:

  • The HQ can build survivors and diggers and will serve as a drop-off point for fuel from tankers (using the road along the side).

Upgrades:

  • Plasma Rifle - Allows survivors to upgrade to soldiers.

BarracksEdit

Description:

  • Probably very similar to the US army barracks.

Abilities:

  • The barracks can produce sappers by default and soldiers and dog soldiers with upgrades.

Upgrades:

  • Soldiers - Barracks can produce soldiers. Kennels - Barracks can produce dog soldiers, soldiers can upgrade to dog soldiers.

Medic StationEdit

Description:

  • Using the US bunker model but with a red '+' on the roof, the medic station will have a healing radius and possibly stretcher carriers to carry heavily wounded?

Abilities:

  • Healing radius

Upgrades:

  • Surgeon - heal radius 50% bigger Pharmacy - units heal twice as fast.

GarageEdit

Description:

  • Probably the consortium garage building.

Abilities:

  • Can build jeeps and tankers Repair radius.

Upgrades:

  • Heavy plasma guns - jeeps can be upgraded to carry heavy plasma guns Snapoff tool box - repairs happen twice as fast (in joke for fallout 2 fans!) Generator - repair radius 50% bigger.

Terminator (Skynet) unitsEdit

The Skynet side will start with hunter killer tanks and will eventually move on to smaller terminator units that can enter buildings, eventually they will end up with flying hunter-killers and stealthy skin covered terminators.

Hunter KillerEdit

Description:

  • A large tank with two twin plasma rifle mounts, its quite slow but heavily armoured and cannot detect stealth units- its twin super cooled plasma rifles can sustain an incredible rate of fire. This unit can slaughter huge amounts of humans caught out in the open and can do a lot of damage to light vehicles- but cannot do a lot of damage to buildings.

Stats:

  • Very slow movement, heavy armour, very strong against troops, very strong against light vehicles, weak against buildings

Abilities:

  • Crush - can run over enemy units

Upgrades:

  • Heavy plasma - allows the hunter killer to damage buildings

Terminator (T-800)Edit

Description:

  • The standard robot exoskeleton, very slow movement but can kill humans with one shot. When destroyed they drop a plasma rifle

Stats:

  • Very slow movement, heavy armour, very strong against troops, medium against light vehicles, weak against buildings

Abilities:

  • Can enter buildings

Upgrades:

  • Skin - turns them into T-850's (I know, I know slight discrepancy from the film- but it sounds better than 'T-800 with skin')

Terminator (T-850)Edit

Description:

  • The standard robot exoskeleton, but this time covered in skin. Very slow movement but can kill humans with one shot. When destroyed they drop a plasma rifle

Stats:

  • Very slow movement, heavy armour, very strong against troops, medium against light vehicles, weak against buildings

Abilities:

  • Can enter buildings
  • Stealth! (dogs are the only units that can spot these)

Upgrades:

  • Heavy plasma gun - gives the unit a higher rate of fire

Notes:

  • Hopefully I can use sounds from the movies to give these units some lines such as 'I'll be back', or 'I'm looking for Sarah Connor', more so for the comedy element than anything else Smile

Hunter Killer VTOLEdit

Description: Much like a modern day helicopter - but with plasma rifles, can kill humans with one shot and do moderate damage to vehicles, not sure if I’m going to give them building damage as well…

Very fast movement, medium armour, very strong against troops, medium against light vehicles, medium against buildings

Abilities:

  • Can fly!

Upgrades:

  • NA

Skynet BuildingsEdit

HeadquartersEdit

Description:

  • Strike Force Talon have the futuristic style buildings so I'll probably use their HQ.

Abilities:

  • The HQ can build droids- the standard Talon builders

Upgrades:

  • empty

Tank FactoryEdit

Description:

  • Using the drone factory model.

Abilities:

  • Can build Hunter Killer Tanks and VTOLs with upgrade

Upgrades:

  • VTOL upgrade

Robot FactoryEdit

Description:

  • Using the SHIELD factory

Abilities:

  • Can build t-800's and T-850's with an addon

Upgrades:

  • Skin Lab addon allows T-850's

PlotEdit

PreludeEdit

The game starts just after the nuclear strike, when the remaining military forces strike back against Skynet.

The first map will be a large city map divided by a river running east to west, with three bridges crossing it. A large military presence will be in the northern part but in the first few seconds several large explosions (using wolverine missile animation) destroys all the military units.

First MissionEdit

Objective 1Edit

Your will control all civilian units on the map and military units will be allies. Your first objective will be to rally the civilians to a hospital located in the southwest.

When a large number of civilians are gathered a military convoy will enter the map at the south side and head for the northern section, they will be surrounded and utterly destroyed by hunter killer tanks. These tanks will then take up position blocking all three bridges

The civilians will turn into survivor units and hunter killers will start patrolling the southern side of the city killing everything they see.

Objective 2Edit

The first survivor building, the HQ can now be built beside the hospital, this building can produce survivors and also acts as a refinery and can create constructing units (diggers)

Diggers produced can build a barracks, which will only be able to create sappers- once the barracks is built a new objective will appear, this will be to destroy any patrolling hunter killers in the south side of the city, once a few have been killed (dropping plasma rifles) the survivors will gain the ability to become soldiers and the soldier unit will become available in the barracks (This can be controlled by the fact that the survivors will have no money- collecting the plasma rifles will give the survivor player enough money to research the soldier upgrade in the HQ and the soldier unit in the barracks)

Objective 3 & 4Edit

A new objective will appear to capture some abandoned tankers, once completed a sub-objective will be created to raid and steal petrol from petrol stations located in the south east of the city. These tankers will take a lot of looking after and the survivor will have to have control of most of the southern side of the city- to achieve this goal a new objective will be created to secure buildings overlooking the bridges- this will stop the hunter killers from being able to patrol the southern side of the city.

Objective 5Edit

In all this time Skynet will be able to construct a base in the northern side of the city and will (the northern side will be under the fog of war and with the bridges covered by HK's the human units will not be able to cross) by now be able to produce T-800 units, with the ability to enter buildings they should make short work of the survivors and will attack the most easterly bridges first. A new objective will be created to fall back and defend the HQ requiring a large amount of soldiers to defeat the T-800's. The survivors will also gain the ability to create medic stations, which -unlike the hospital where units must be inside to heal- has a healing radius and will heal surrounding units.

Objective 6Edit

A new objective will appear to steal vehicles from a nearby car park (Jeeps), once returned to HQ the survivors will have the ability to create a garage, which can build jeeps and tankers and repair vehicles.

Objective 3 will return making the survivors capture the three bridges, then break one of the bridge blockades to get to a bunker surrounded by houses in the north western sector. This bunker complex will be reinforced by building a medic bay and a barracks allowing units to be created on the northern side (rather than run the blockade constantly).

Objective 7Edit

After a while the bunker complex will be assaulted by T-850's, as the survivors cannot detect stealth they will be wiped out on the northern side of the river- the ability to create dog soldiers will be added and a race to get these units to the bridges before the T-850's can advance will start.

The latter end of this objective will concern re-equipping the northern bunker complex.
